Enhanced “Habagat” Affects 96 Families in Baguio

As of July 26, a total of 96 families (422 individuals) in the Summer Capital were affected by the onslaught of the Southwest Monsoon enhanced by typhoon ‘Carina’ according to a report by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) under Liza Bulayungan.

No casualties (deceased, injured, missing) were reported.

Top affected barangays were Irisan with 26 families (132 individuals); Campo Filipino, seven families (30 individuals); Lower Magsaysay, seven families (29 individuals); Pinsao Proper, six families (37 individuals); and Dontogan with five families affected (24 individuals).

The CSWDO served five displaced families (16 individuals) inside two evacuation centers located at San Luis and Lucnab barangays; 25 displaced families (137 individuals) outside evacuation centers who stayed with relatives, neighbors, friends, and others; and 66 non-displaced families (289 individuals). They were all provided with food and non-food items.

The report stated that 14 houses/properties were partially damaged by heavy rains that pummelled the city for the past several days.

Food and non-food items were provided by the city government, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and others, it disclosed.

Meanwhile, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) situational report as of 11 pm, July 25, revealed that the calamity caused 15 landslides; 12 fallen trees/branches; five clogged drainages; and 19 electrical concerns (dangling wires, sparking wires, blown transformer, fallen electrical post) in the city.
