City officials recently commended and congratulated the city representatives during the 2024 Palarong Pambansa held in Cebu City last July 11-15, 2024.
In a resolution, local legislators stated that the achievement of the local athletes that represented the city not only showcase their personal excellence but also brought honor and pride to the city being one of the sports havens in the Cordillera.
The council recognized that the annual Palarong Pambansa is a prestigious national sports competition that promotes camaraderie and excellence among Filipino youth who compete in various sports disciplines as athletes representing various local governments and regions in the country.
The body added that Baguio City prides itself on a rich cultural heritage and athletic prowess nurturing talents who embody the values of discipline, determination and sportsmanship.
It claimed that the city’s representatives in the 2024 Palarong Pambansa serve as ambassadors of the community tasked with upholding the city’s reputation and fostering positive relationships with fellow athletes and officials from the different parts of the country.
Among the Baguio athletes that garnered medals during the prestigious national competition include Denver B. Tacay, Jr. – silver medalist in discus throw under the stewardship of his coach Hernanie C. Sore assisted by Mary Joyce Torres; Chass Mhaiven N. Colas – silver medalist in the 50-meter archery competition coached by John P. Hongintan; Emy Angela A. Peredo – bronze medalist in the individual match play of archery coached by Manny P. Cosme and chaperoned by Christina B Ngay-os; Chass Mhaiven N. Colas and Emy Angela A. Peredo – bronze medalist in the archery missed team event coached by John P. Hongitan and Manny P. Cosme and chaperoned by Christina B. Ngay-os; Chass Mhaiven N. Colas – gold medalist in the junior recurve men 60-meter of the archery competition coached by John Hongitan; Emy Angela A. Peredo – silver medalist in the junior recurve women 70-meter of the archery competition; Izy Zyrell M. Pobletin – gold medalist in the full contact pin weight of the arnis competition coached by Jeffrey Aliga and chaperoned by Kensha Joy M. Solano; Glysm Belteshasar O.
