ILOILO CITY, August 12, 2022 – Benguet Electric Cooperative (BENECO) once again received the ACE of Tariff award, the most prestigious award among Electric Cooperatives.
The Ace of Tariff Award is given to the top Electric Cooperative providing the cheapest electricity on-grid rate to its member-consumer-owners (MCOs) without compromising quality and was based on data from the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).
This is the third consecutive year since 2019 that BENECO was awarded the Ace of Tariff Award rising above 93 electric cooperatives (ECs) during the 43rd Philippine Rural Electric Cooperatives Association (PHILRECA) Annual General Membership Meeting held in Iloilo. In 2017, the same award was given to BENECO by National Electrification Administration (NEA).
BENECO garnered a total of 15 awards for its outstanding performance and one award for the Member, Consumer, Owners (MCO) who were front liners in the protection of the cooperative.
BENECO General Manager Melchor Licoben said the Ace of Tariff “is the award of all awards.”
“We can forget all the other awards. I and our late GM (Gerardo Versoza) share the same view, that the price of electricity is the most important of all awards and nobody else can share this award unlike any other awards,” said Licoben.
“We power on, kudos to the men and women of BENECO,” he said.
BENECO was also awarded the Gold Stellar Award for attaining a high collection efficiency despite challenges brought by NEA’s intervention and its appointed GM.
The Sustained Improvement Award is given for exemplary performance in the pursuit of total electrification and sustainable rural development despite the challenges brought by the pandemic and leadership row.
Other awards received by BENECO are the Prompt Payor Award, Limelight Award, Strong Commitment to Brotherhood Award, Occupational Safety and Health Excellence Award, Extra Mile Award, MCO Champion Award, Outstanding Performance Award, Champion of the One EC Network Award, Outstanding Radio Program Award, Unparalleled Service Award, Digital Transformation Award, and Making a Difference Award. – Mia Fokno
