DSWD KALAHI-CIDSS turns over four subprojects in Abra

PIDIGAN, Abra – Four community infrastructure projects worth ₱4.1 million have been completed and turned over to communities in Abra, improving road access in three barangays and providing slope protection in another to help mitigate landslide risks.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office Cordillera Administrative Region (DSWD FO CAR), through its Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) program under the Kapangyarihan at Kaunlaran sa Barangay-Community-Driven Development (KKB-CDD), formally inaugurated and turned over the projects from August 25 to 28, 2026.

The subprojects are located in Barangays Naguirayan, Garreta, and Monggoc, where road improvements were identified as community priorities, and Barangay Sulbec, where slope protection was constructed to help prevent landslides and protect public infrastructure.

The projects are intended to benefit residents of the four barangays, particularly those who rely on local roads for daily travel and access to essential services. The slope protection project in Sulbec is also intended to help safeguard the community and nearby public infrastructure from potential landslide hazards.

Through the KALAHI-CIDSS community-driven development approach, residents participated in identifying priority needs, preparing project proposals, managing implementation, and monitoring the completion of their chosen projects.

“Seeing our dream access road completed gives us an overwhelming sense of pride because we built it together,” said Florgale T. Paculan, a KALAHI-CIDSS volunteer from Barangay Garreta.
