City Administrator Engr. Bonifacio Dela Pena, together with Councilors Poppo Cosalan and Jose Molintas, City Buildings and Architecture Officer Arch. Johnny Degay, Sports Development Officer Gaudencio Gonzales, Assistant City Administrator VJ Cawis and city employees held a ribbon cutting ceremony of the Baguio Athletic Bowl Facade and Gate last 9 October 2024
The gate was moved to the left facing the facility to coincide with the axis of the oval. The design was inspired by the well-known Olympic torch to symbolize the flaming spirit of the local athletes as Baguio City is known to produce world-class athletes.
Solar panels are also installed at the top of the gate to supplement the facility’s electricity.
The rehabilitation started on April 14, 2023 and was completed on June 24, 2024.
Other facilities in the Athletic Bowl Complex—Athlete’s Quarters, Youth Convergence Center, and the Tennis Court are currently under construction.
Baguio Athletic Bowl plays a vital role in the field of sports for athletes, serving as the premier training ground, venue for different sports local, regional, and national sports events and a suitable site for recreational activities. -Mileyvonne Tiamzon
