Baguio City, 10 October 2024—Baguio City has earned international recognition, winning gold in the Human CentriCity category at the Seoul Smart City Prize Ceremony held today in South Korea. Representing the city were Mayor Benjamin Magalong and Francis Camarao from the Management Information and Technology Division.
The accolade was awarded for Baguio’s “Inclusive and Accessible Health Governance” (BIAG) system, a groundbreaking initiative that provides accessible health records, telemedicine, and equitable health protection for the city’s residents. This system aims to revolutionize healthcare services in Baguio by making them more inclusive and efficient.
Mayor Magalong and the city’s delegates are in South Korea for the 1st Seoul Smart Life Week, an event promoting “people-centered smart cities.” The BIAG system’s emphasis on providing accessible and equitable healthcare resonates with the event’s vision, focusing on improving lives through technology.
