A sinkhole emerged at a pathway in Purok 1 Cabinet Hill at the height of the rains brought by typhoon “Julian” yesterday, Sept. 30, 2024.
In a report to Mayor Benjamin Magalong, the City Engineering Office which inspected the sinkhole after it was reported to the City Public Information Office by a resident said the crater has an approximate depth of six feet and located along a pathway where no drainage system was installed.
No resident was affected when it caved in and no damages were incurred, according to the CEO which also noted that no structures were situated within the six-meter radius of the hollow.
Cabinet Hill punong barangay Ricky Santiago told the inspectors of the possibility that more sinkholes exist in Forbes Park.
“This warrants further investigation,” the CEO said adding that it will submit a report to the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) of the Dept. of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) for indepth assessment.
The CEO said that temporary protective barricades were installed for safety.
Residents were advised to monitor for ground movement and to report any concerns immediately to the barangay for action. – Aileen P. Refuerzo
