BLISTT Residents Offered Free Access to Botanical Garden After Panagbenga

A newly approved ordinance allows residents of the BLISTT (Baguio, La Trinidad, Itogon, Sablan, Tuba, and Tublay) areas free access to the Baguio Botanical Garden as a post-Panagbenga gesture of gratitude.

Principally authored by Councilor Jose Molintas, the ordinance was approved by the Baguio City Council on March 17, 2025 and has been transmitted to the City Mayor’s Office to be signed by Mayor Benjamin Magalong before its implementation.

This move aims to show appreciation for the BLISTT communities’ support during this year’s Panagbenga Festival. It also seeks to promote environmental awareness, recreational, and educational opportunities for residents.

Under the ordinance, from March 20 to April 20, 2025, all residents of the BLISTT areas will be allowed free entry to the Baguio Botanical Garden. This includes access to various sections such as plant exhibits, nature trails, and the main grounds.

To avail of the free access, BLISTT residents must present a valid identification document proving their residency such as IDs, driver’s licenses, passports, barangay clearances, or any other city-recognized documents.

The City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO) is tasked with ensuring the maintenance of the Botanical Garden and maintaining free access program effectively.

The City Tourism will handle the promotion of the free access program. The Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) will maintain peace and order within the Botanical Garden during the free access period while the barangays will help in disseminating information about the program to their constituents. -Jordan G.
