As part of the women’s month celebration, several activities have been set for the Protection and Gender-Fair Treatment of the Girl Child Week on March 23-29, 2025.
This was taken up during the Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) first quarter meeting, March 7 at the City Library; as presided by Janine Abalos of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).
Anchored on Presidential Proclamation 759, issued on March 6, 1996, it declared that “every Girl Child below 18 years old should be provided with equal opportunities and adequate protection to prepare her for her role in community development.”
The activity is led by the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC). Among the activities prepared in coordination with other office and agencies are:
• Learning Sessions in digital platforms/arts and crafts/livelihood;
• #Girlsblock Violence DP Blast;
• ArtSPeak Poster Making;
• Basic Self-Defense Demonstration/Training;
• Safe Space Wall lecture.
• Power Purple Campaign.
The theme for this year is “Walang Puwang Sa Lipunan ang Karahasan: Labanan Ang Pang-Aabuso at Eksploytasyon sa Batang Babae, online at offline.”- jgfianza
