Baguio City Gears Up for Charter Day Job Fair on September 28

Baguio City (PIA) – Jobseekers from Baguio and neighboring areas are invited to participate in the highly anticipated Charter Day Job Fair at the Baguio Convention and Cultural Center on September 28, 2024. The event is part of the city’s celebration of its 115th Charter Day.

Romelda Escaño, Manager of the Baguio City Public Employment Service Office (PESO), encourages jobseekers to take advantage of the diverse employment opportunities at the fair. Speaking at the Ugnayang Panlungsod press briefing on September 18, Escaño emphasized that the event will connect participants with both local and international employers, offering a variety of job openings.

As of September 18, the job fair is set to feature over 3,592 local job vacancies and 480 international positions. The available roles include sales representatives, security managers, accounting staff, warehouse helpers, and social welfare assistants. For those seeking overseas employment, the majority of opportunities are in the healthcare sector, particularly for caregivers and nurse assistants.

In addition to job opportunities, the event will host a multi-service initiative that includes a one-stop shop for government services, a livelihood fair, and business counseling sessions. Agencies such as the Social Security System (SSS), PAGIBIG, PhilHealth, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will be on-site to assist participants with various services.

Escaño also highlighted the importance of preparing for the event by researching potential employers and dressing appropriately in smart casual attire. Jobseekers should bring multiple copies of their resumes, school credentials, and employment or training certificates. She also assured that the job fair is open to all, including residents of Benguet and nearby towns, emphasizing that no discrimination will take place during the activity.
