The Art of Blooming: Sabsabong ti Mayo Competitions Light Up iBagiw Creative Village

It was a festive Sunday morning on May 11, 2025, at the iBagiw Village at the Old Diplomat Hotel Garden, where vibrant colors, creative energy, and heartfelt connections blossomed.

The City Tourism Office hosted the most anticipated highlights of the Sabsabong ti Mayo celebration: the Floral Art Competition and the Mother and Child Floral Crown Competition.

Set within the ongoing iBagiw Creative Village, the event transformed the village into a lively space filled with blooms, families, artists, and visitors who came to witness the beauty of local creativity in full bloom.

In the Floral Art Competition, 17 contestants from different barangays showcased their floral masterpieces. After a tough round of judging, Ms. Kamyl Ivonne Agulto of Bayan Park Barangay was crowned Champion, impressing everyone with her intricate and meaningful arrangement.

Also taking home top honors were:

1st Runner-Up: Ms. Rizza Ernesto (Mines View Barangay)

2nd Runner-Up: Ms. Angela Laquipo (Cabinet Hill–Teacher’s Camp)

Meanwhile, the Mother and Child Floral Crown Competition added a warm and joyful vibe to the occasion. Families beamed as mothers and children wore matching flower crowns, walking hand in hand through the garden as living testaments to love and creativity. The winners were:

Champion: Regina Roxanne Caoili and Ciel Kristine Caoili

1st Runner-Up: Mary Grace Zapanta and Althea Shira Zapanta

2nd Runner-Up: Melody Gomeng-ad and Gerdy Yannis Gomeng-ad

More than just competitions, these activities were a celebration of what Sabsabong ti Mayo truly stands for – heritage, artistry, and the blooming bonds of community. More events are scheduled at the iBagiw Creative Village and the old diplomat building grounds this May.
