Mayor Benjamin Magalong ratified city council resolution no. 457, series of 2024, supporting the conversion of Lucban Elementary School into an Integrated School that aims to make Junior High Schools accessible to most of its graduates and decongest the overpopulated enrollment of the nearest Junior High Schools in the city proper and nearby barangays.
It also seeks to provide a higher possibility for less fortunate learners from the catchment area to continue their Junior High School education with convenience and accessibility; provide a seamless transition that ensures a smooth progression from Grades 7 to 10 and to Senior High School.
“The conversion of Lucban Elementary School into an Integrated School will surely enhance the totality of the learning environment with conducive classrooms, improved facilities and equipment and personal rightsizing,” the resolution stated.
The measure disclosed that the State affirms its utmost regard to quality education pursuant to its declaration that it shall protect and promote the right of all citizens to quality education at all levels, and shall take appropriate steps to make such education accessible to all.
The increasing number of students enrolled in the different schools and universities within the Summer Capital and the high quality of professional graduates that the city produces manifests its famous brand as the ‘Center of Education of the North’.
“As a proactive response to the increasing number of learners within the catchment area of Lucban Elementary School, its conversion into an Integrated School is highly considered,” the resolution stressed.-Gaby B. Keith
