CEPMO opens door for Creatives to enhance the Arboretum Park

The City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO), led by Atty. Renan Diwas, has invited artists and artisans on Thursday, Feb. 13, to collaborate on enhancing the Arboretum Park through creative installations.

Diwas said, “the vision is to elevate Baguio City’s creative and cultural experience in parks.”  He said that his office will accept recommendations on installations or structures that can be built in the area. “These structures can be a decoration, a workshop area, or a gallery where our creativity can be part of the arboretum,” he said.

The project is open to at least ten creative installations designed not only to enhance the park but also to support the city’s designation as a UNESCO Creative City for Crafts and Folk Art. Diwas underscored that the designs should complement the park’s purpose, preserving green spaces and local plant species while showcasing the city’s vibrant creative sector.

As an example, Diwas presented an installation of a honeycomb structure that will serve as an interactive and educational experience for guests on how honey is produced with an actual honeybee production studio that will also promote local honey products.

Also attending the workshop was Creative City of Baguio Council (CBCC) Co-chair Marie Venus Tan who shared several suggestions in preserving the environmental integrity of the park.

“This is going to be a continuous collaboration where we explore the best ways to integrate conservation and creativity,” said Diwas.

More meetings are expected as the Creatives work on their project proposals. – CCT
