50 Baguio Barangays Awarded Seal of Good Local Governance

Fifty of the city’s 128 barangays made it as national passers of the 2024 Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangay (SGLGB) program, according to the Dept. of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Baguio City Field Office.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong congratulated the barangays for their exemplary performance that earned them the coveted seal.

The mayor noted that the awardees increased from 35 barangays last year which he said is a good sign that more barangays are exerting efforts to improve their governance and programs.

The barangay passers are:

Alfonso Tabora, Andres Bonifacio, Atok Trail, Aurora Hill Proper, AZKCO, Bakakeng Central, Camdas Subdivision, Camp 7, Camp Allen, City Camp Central;

City Camp Proper, Country Club Village, Dominican Hill-Mirador, East Bayan Park, Engineer’s Hill, Fairview Village, Fort Del Pilar, Hillside, Holy Ghost Extension, Honeymoon;

Imelda Village, Kabayanihan, Kias, Legarda-Burnham-Kisad, Loakan Liwanag, Loakan Proper, Lourdes Proper Subd., Lourdes Subdivision Ext., Lower Lourdes Subd., Lower Quirino Hill,

Lower Rock Quarry, Magsaysay Private Road, Middle Quirino Hill, Middle Rock Quarry, MRR-Queen of Peace, Palma-Urbano, Poliwes, San Antonio Village, San Roque Village, San Vicente;

Sto. Tomas Proper, Scout Barrio, South Drive, Teodora Alonzo, Trancoville, Upper Market Subd., Upper Quezon Hill, Upper Quirino-Magsaysay, Upper Rock Quarry, and West Quirino Hill.

According to the DILG, the SGLGB is the department’s “flagship program” that centers on “performance assessment and recognition system designed to distinguish barangays with outstanding performance across various governance areas.”

The said areas are: Financial Administration and Sustainability (FAS), Disaster Preparedness (DP), Safety, Peace and Order (SPO), Social Protection and Sensitivity (SPS), Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness (BFC), and Environmental Management (EM). – Aileen P. Refuerzo
