Mayor Orders Strict Enforcement of Sanitation Code on Restrooms

Mayor Benjamin Magalong has ordered the strict implementation of the Sanitation Code with focus on maintaining clean and well-equipped restrooms across the city.

The mayor gave city establishments until Sept. 30 to comply.  Inspections will start on Oct. 1 to be conducted by the Public Order and Safety Division and the Sanitation Division under the City Health Services Office.

“This is a fair warning to all our businessmen.  Those who will fail to comply will be issued notices of violation,” he said.

He stressed that restrooms in public and private establishments must be properly maintained and equipped with basic hygiene necessities such as liquid soap and paper towels.

“These facilities are essential to public health and should meet the minimum requirements at all times,” he said.

The move is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to raise sanitation standards and promote a healthier environment for residents and tourists.

The mayor urged business owners and operators to act immediately, reminding them that compliance is not only a legal obligation but also a responsibility to the community.

“Sanitation is a matter of public welfare.  Clean restrooms reflect the kind of city we want Baguio to be,” he said. – Aileen P. Refuerzo
