BENECO Reports Extensive Damage to Power Infrastructure Caused by Typhoon Uwan

The Benguet Electric Cooperative (BENECO) has released its latest assessment of the damage caused by Typhoon Uwan, revealing severe impacts on its power distribution infrastructure across Benguet and Baguio City.

As of 6:00 PM, November 17, 2025, a total of 164 electric poles have been reported damaged. Of these:132 are primary (backbone) poles, affecting major power lines32 are secondary poles, impacting distribution to communities and The

highest number of damaged poles are concentrated in the following:

Buguias – 66 poles; Kabayan – 19 poles; Atok – 18 poles; Baguio City – 14 poles; Mankayan – 10 poles; Bokod – 8 poles; Tuba – 7 poles; Itogon – 5 poles; Sablan – 4 poles; Kibungan – 4 poles; Bakun – 3 poles; Tublay – 3 poles

The current estimated cost of the damage has reached ₱14.9 million, covering poles, line hardware, and restoration logistics.

BENECO’s linemen and technical crews are working round the clock to restore electricity in affected communities. More reports are expected as assessment teams reach remote sites and as restoration efforts continue.
