Women’s Month Activities On, Up to April 3

WOMEN’s MONTH ACTIVITIES ON, UP TO APRIL 3 The celebration of the 2025 Kababaihan Festival goes on up to April 3 with activities on health, environment, leadership, gender and development, creativity, personality development and other important concerns. 

Spearheaded by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) with the point persons in their respective districts, the activities are done in coordination with groups and agencies including the Outstanding Women Leaders (OWLs); Health Services Office (HSO); City Library (BCPL); Men Opposed to Violence Everywhere (MOVE); Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina |(KALIPI); Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO); Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Personnel, and Female and Male Dormitories; Baguio City Police Office (BCPO); Local Committees on anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Children (LCAT-VAWC); Office of Councilors Betty Lourdes Tabanda and Elmer Datuin, Sangguniang Kabataan; barangay  officials; and Child and  Family Services Philippines (CFSPI); among others.       

All district health centers are open up to March 31 for cervical cancer screening and breast examination; as with scheduled digital learnings for women up to March 27 at the city library as according to City Librarian and 2025 Outstanding Women Leader (OWL) Easter Wahayna-Pablo. 

The Wednesdays of March are devoted to the use of purple clothes or accessories, the color which symbolizes grandeur, nobility, creativity, dignity and peace; as attributed to the women.

At the Baguio City Jail, lectures were given on gender sensitivity and gender development, and on RA 9262 or An act defining violence against women and their children, in the past few days.

On March 22, Saturday, a search for Huwarang Ina (Model Mother) is conducted at the Central Business District (CBD) as coordinated by the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) and BCPO Station, as with a women’s month story writing in coordination with the CFSPI. 

On March 24, a women’s leadership training for Women with Disability is slated in coordination with the Persons With Disability Affairs Office (PDAO), the venue still to be announced.

On March 25, the CSWDO, KALIPI, BJMP and MOVE members coordinated an eco-walk, plogging, self and social enhancement while on March 26, a social wellness for women and social justice law forum for PDAO and partners was conducted. 

In the afternoon of March 27, a dance contest of western, modern and contemporary categories with participants from the 15 barangays of District 5 and 15 was conducted at the CDRRMO building, Lower Rock Quarry.  

On the same day, the women’s summit is also scheduled with a venue to be announced later.  
An eco-fashion show at the Baguio convention center on April 3 ends the celebration. The theme for this year’s celebration is, “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat Ang Buhay sa Bagong Pilipinas (“Women in All Sectors, A Better Future in the New Philippines.”) – jgfianza
