GCASH Payments soon to be accepted for Government Fees

The city government represented by Mayor Benjamin Magalong entered into an ‘Implementing Agreement for Billers’ with G-XChange, Inc. (GXI), represented by Edgardo Layug, Jr., head, GCash for Business, March 25, at City Hall.

The agreement will allow the city to accept and collect payments from its clients who are registered to GCash through the ‘GCash App’ (IOS and Android), a mobile application that can be downloaded and accessed using a smartphone.

Upon payment, the GCash subscriber will receive a notification through SMS and/or in-app notification if the transaction was successful or not.

The subscriber’s GCash wallet and/or GCredit limit will be debited, as applicable, and payment shall be credited to the city’s GCash merchant wallet, subject to applicable fees and taxes, which is then settled in accordance with the agreement.

GXI is a corporation registered with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) as a licensed remittance agent and E-Money Issuer that handles electronic money issuance, remittance services, and mobile payment solutions, among others, under the ‘GCash’ brand.

City treasurer Alex Cabarrubias, who signed as a witness to the agreement, said the system will allow those registered under GCash to pay their taxes and other bills to the city on-line making it more convenient for them.

He is hoping that the system will be ready for operation by next month or at the soonest possible time.-Gaby B. Keith
